Holiday Dolls With Round Heads

These are 3 of the Holiday dolls that I have finished. Cloth heads, arms and bodies attached to old wooden beehive bobbins. They have been hand painted, their clothes are hand sewn and stand 23-24 inches tall. I am done with these cloth dolls and off to sculpting now.

Susie... your advice on the face painting is invaluable...I just love your work; it is extraordinarily beautiful...I am just beginning to make "real" dolls. When my now 16 yo dd was about 4, I made a doll and gave it to her....I just learned yesterday that she really did not like the doll....looking at the doll, I can see why. It is not a beautiful piece at all. I was trying something different and it did not work....I told her that she is to be commended for keeping something that she really didn't care for that much and not saying a word. I am proud of her; however, I would like to have known that she thought it ugly...lol...she calmly said to me..."but, Mom, you made it for me and therefore it is beautiful"....love that child! Critique is necessary and oftentime painful, but we do learn from it. I am going to post a picture of that doll on my site when I get a chance as one of the first dolls....
Again thank you for sharing your art and knowledge...I learn...
